Mr. Corey White and Ms. Samantha Cushing
2022-23
The Physical Education program at Amherst Middle School includes a variety of activities designed to develop an appreciation for the benefits of a physically active lifestyle. A physically active person understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction. Students will be exposed to a variety of movement experiences, skills, and games that are designed to enhance the cognitive, motor, and physical development of every child. Throughout the year, activities will be presented to allow students the opportunity to grow physically and emotionally through movement. Students will make progress at their own pace while being constantly encouraged to challenge themselves.
Our goal is to provide students with opportunities to participate in a variety of physical activities: competitive, cooperative, team/individual challenges, fitness, wellness, and non-traditional. We hope to develop skills, interest, and an appreciation for the need for life long physical activity and recreation. The Physical Education program at AMS supports the National Association of Sports and Physical Education National Standards.
